WALLS OF GLASS

WALLS OF GLASS

Walls of glass, her reflection surrounds
Bare skinned and vulnerable, she looks around
Hard to recognize the girl looking back,
Hard to recall a few months back

Look past the surface, to what lies beneath
Past tears and confusion, to the soul underneath
Beyond the scars that since have healed
Closed up, not forgotten, just buried and sealed

Crawled out from an abyss, emerged from a hole
Once broken, now stronger, from life’s unfair toll
Her strength within, the passion in her heart
No longer contained, eager for a new start

She glances again at the girl looking back
She smiles, she knows, no longer does she lack
The void that was missing, her fire now reclaimed
Burning brighter, stronger, her spark regained

Familiar again, the girl she always knew
The same heart and soul remaining true
She smiles as she turns and walks away
Her reflection, reflecting what her heart has to say
